Devon Wine Trail, , Devon

Among Devon's green rolling hills are lush vineyards, bursting with grapes that are made into award-winning whites, reds, rosés and fizzies. There are nine vineyards on the trail, producing a variety of different wines.

Drop into Yearlstone Vineyard in Mid Devon close to the famous C18th Bickleigh Mill and have a bite to eat while sampling fantastic wines. Head across to the ancient monastic Crediton to Down St Mary Vineyard for a fizz that is every bit as classy as Champagne. To the east are the small vineyards of Willhayne and Highcroft also producing very good wines. Near Exeter is Manstree Vineyard where you can pick up a bottle of great wine and in season pick your own soft fruit.

Sherborne Castle, Sherborne, Dorset

Once the home of Sir Walter Raleigh, the imposing castle and stunning gardens sit within a Capability Brown influenced landscape. The perfect place either for picnics, for walking and to visit the interior of this historic Castle.

Set in 40 acres of glorious 'Capability' Brown landscaped gardens around a 50 acre lake, the Castle contains a splendid collection of art, furniture and porcelain. Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594, Sherborne Castle has been the home of the Digby family since 1617. Prince William of Orange was entertained here in 1688, and George III visited in 1789.
