Beautiful Country Cottages within the historic estate of Sudeley Castle.
- Historic setting
- Historic exhibitions in castle
- Surrounding area of historic heritage
Sudeley Castle Country cottages are nestled within the Sudeley estate & the historic town of Winchcombe. Ideal for getaways & steeped in history, the cottages are cleverly restored & converted from existing properties on the estate. With royal connections spanning a thousand years Sudeley Castle has played an important role in the turbulent & changing times of England’s past. Once owned by Henry VIII and later the magnificent palace of Katherine Parr, who is buried here in the castle church.
Charles I resided here while his nephew Prince Rupert established Sudeley as his garrison headquarters during the English Civil War. After its desecration by Cromwell’s troops, Sudeley lay sadly neglected until restored some 200 years later. The Castle exhibitions include artifacts from throughout Sudeley’s history and new for 2007 ‘Threads of Time – The Textile Treasures of Sudeley’.
"A relaxing time with access to the wonderful gardens and a wealth of history. Great events at the weekends too!"
Peter Marley, Surrey.
